I'm just going to get a regular vacuum pump, I'm sure it won't be the only time it gets used, and for about $90 at Harbor Freight, I'll take the chance on it.

Yep. I really wanted a rotary vane pump but no one would ship without doubling the price. They are not that heavy.

Guess that's the cost of living in a remote area. I'd love to go to Alaska, but I don't think I'd want to ever leave if I did go up there LOL.

Haha. That is the way it is with the guys. Most women, not so much. Outdoorsy folks love it.

Got the vacuum pump and gauges this afternoon. Vacuumed the system down and after an hour it hadn't moved at all under vacuum, so apparently no significant leaks anywhere. Now the trouble is, I have to break everything open anyhow to replace all the o-rings, flush the system, install the right oil in the compressor, then put everything back together and vacuum down again and see if I created any leaks LOL. Then recharge and hope it all works. Seemed to be a lot of moisture boiling out when I vacuumed it down the first time this afternoon. Pressures were extremely weird for not having any significant amount of charge in the system to cool. Looked like the low side was sitting at about 65psi, the high side was at around 180psi. Probably due to being contaminated and not properly charged I assume.
