Swapping a 302 with shorty water pump into my 1984 ranger. Has anybody had success retaining A/C and if so what bracketry did you use? Any info welcome - thanks!

My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Shorty doesn’t fully explain Ford’s changes.
There’s multiple V belt setups, there’s Fox and truck distance serpentine, there’s SN95 and MN12 distance serpentine, there’s Explorer serpentine.

Your best bet is to use 96-01 Explorer FEAD brackets, water pump and timing chain cover. This is what I am using on my 84. I have AC bypass pulley on mine right now, but I will be adding AC later, it should just bolt in. It also gives you a lot more space to run a fan.
