Back to TRS after a LONG break.

The kids bugged me to get my first build out over the summer and we cruised it everywhere. Short list of parts...1985 2wd short bed, full roller 387W, Pa Comp C4, Hughes Convertor, narrowed Mopar 8.75 with 3.55's and mini tubbed. The only trip to the track in this set up went 11.92 at 113mph. I had another username (Dan B.) way back in 2012 with this truck when it won TOTM but can't find the password. Back then it only had a 358W and rebuilt C4. The 387W ate that trans and I bought the PA...it's been bulletproof.

I came back to TRS after getting another 1st gen over the weekend. 1986, 2wd, short bed, 2.3L, 5 speed. It has a LOT of new parts...injectors, coil, wires, plugs, brakes, tires, battery, etc. Not sure what the plan will be for it. Don't think I'm interested in another V8 swap. I've done several and only kept my first one. Paint is NOT in the plans...one shiny truck is enough to take care of. However the paint is pretty decent. Dark blue paint with chrome bumpers is my weakness!

The stamped tailgate was the seller for me. I LOVE these over the aluminum panel tailgates.

Welcome back! Awesome truck. I wanted to build a drag truck but for a year or so mine has to be a commuter/ fishing machine.

Thanks. I built the first truck 20yrs ago with a 2bbl 351W, C4 and 3.23 gears. Commuted it to college daily...except in the winter. As time went on it got more and more aggressive. This winter may see some upgrades to shoot for a deeper 11 second pass. Other than that it will remain unchanged. It rolls down the road awesome and will idle at 190 degrees or less even on 90 degree days.

So, the same guy had a 1992 that needs a little love and the timing belt swap retimed. The dark blue 1986 cost $700. The 1992 drained me for $100. Yes, a single hondo. Still a 2.3L, 5 speed.

In one pic it looks like short bed but the other it looks like a long bed.

99% sure it was "Dan B." with a period after the B.

I'm a fan of short beds on the 2wd trucks and longs on the 4wd's. I've had both and V8 swapped both.

Will see what I can find. It was DSG, lowered a little and had Centerline wheels.
