My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I'm going to look for a new house today and I need to keep these things in mind. Who's the internet provider? How good is cell reception? Does the neighbor have a good two-post lift I can use? Where's the nearest beer store?

Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
I am going to start building my shop at the beginning of next year. My buddy is giving me a snap on two post lift with everything ready to install. It doesn't have cables just cylinders that have to be leveled on setup. God bless that man.

You need to bring all that down to the Greenville, SC area.

I was under the impression that a firestick required a USB port on the TV though.
It uses a USB power supply, but that can be provided from the wall, TV, etc. Doesn't really matter as long as it's powered. Same with the Roku stick and Chromecast. Fire TV and the larger Roku boxes just have dedicated power supplies instead.

Wtf is it though? A gizmo box? I have cable and internet through optimum but i just use internet for amazon prime video, netflix, and youtube (i own tons of shows through google/youtube). I rarely watch actual cable tv and dont even have a box in my living room. If the roku box gives me all them i might buy it.

My ps4 gives me all my tv and movie apps... which is why its my cable box
My model is about 4 inches square and an inch and a half high. it connects to the tv via HDMI cable and has a 12v dc power supply that plugs into the wall. it gets internet via wifi and you can stream Netflix, Prime, Hulu and dozens of other streaming apps. my unit cost 50 bucks a few years ago. you can also get nicer units, and ones that are basically oversize USB sticks. some TV's have it built in as well. This is what replaced the PS3 for our media streaming, it is much simpler to use.
