On the 93-94 Ranger XLTs, they came pre-wired for fog lights. Lots of guys have unsuccessfully poked around under the dash for the switch pigtail thinking it's just hanging out near the headlight switch, given up, and added a whole new harness. NOPE. Look at the headlight switch. Below it is a cosmetic dash piece with 3 little "steps" in it so you can add various switches for different accessories. Carefully pry out the bottom of this panel and the FL pigtail is plugged into a "blank" in the back of the bottom step. It is a 4 wire pigtails with Blk, Red, Yellow, and Blue wires. This setup may be true on other years too, but definitely on the 93-94's. The actual switch is specific to these years too, and REALLY hard to find. But, I hear an early 90's Taurus switch will plug right into it also. Good luck!!

Good info...a hidden pigtail...who'd thought...thanks!

It would be better as a tech article with a few pics showing where it is hidden and the finished product...

Just a suggestion...:icon_thumby:

Just read your thread, I had the panel off of my 94 XLT and wondered what that plug was. I have installed a winch bumper and I have fog light tabs and was going to rewire the whole thing now I will try to find the ford switch and use it.

The plugs for the lights are indeed behind the front bumper. I can find a switch for every year except for the 1994 Ranger, I am now thinking of getting an after market kit and just make a new hole for the lights.
