87 ranger 2.9.

I was pokiing around under the hood and noticed i have SEVEN wires blue, pulling out of the harness on the plug on the driver side inner fender, and just in general screwed up. (wondering if thats why its running like shit)

I harvested some off of rusty #1 for my bronco but i dont know if i have enough left for the ranger.

My question is are they a specfic thing? I read theres different sizes of them. Anyone know what size i need? Can i get them at the parts store or are they kinda speciality?

Took a quick look on McMaster and it seems like there are three sizes. You should be careful to select 0.156" 0.180" or 0.197". If I had to guess, its going to be the 0.180" inch connector and blue should mean that it crimps 14-16 AWG.

Dorman# 85345. No one stocks them. They are available different places online...they 3 bucks for a 5pack...of course 10 to ship the shit.

I bought some from napa that seemed close spliced them on and tried it but they wont plug all the way in to the female side and they fit in the plug like garbage

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
A lot of these terminals will be proprietary, and only the right one will fit the connector body correctly.

The bitch is, is that 30 years ago the compny I worked at built plug-in harnesses for aftermarket stuff. But I can't remember who Ford used for sourcing it's harnesses and harness parts.

The key would be to figure out who the supplier was, and then use that manufacturer's name to search out the needed components. Most all of this stuff is still available, the problem is finding the right part.

This said it was for ford "wedgelock" and replaces ford part number....something. But the number started with E5 or E6 so i figured i was in the neigboorhood.

Rock auto was having a closeout...bought the last 4 boxes (20 connectors) for 9.97 with shipping.

If they said that they're for Ford wedgelock, then you should be OK.

After you get them and try them, I'd love to know how they work out.

I'd also like to get a line on buying the plastic parts. All of the asking prices that I see for "repair pigtails" are just insane.

Yes, that looks like a match.

That's funny, as the only problem that I've ever had with RA was getting an empty package, out of several ordered, of the "Christmas tree" door panel clips.

Thank you for the follow-up.
