I have one remote for my 96 Ranger that is all beat up and the buttons don't always work. I bought 4 used replacements on Ebay. For some weird reason, if I add a
"new" remote (using this procedure on youtube
). After the doors unlock and lock I can add a new remote. However, my original remote no longer works and I can't add any other remotes. Is there any way to "reset and clear" all the remotes to start from scratch? I recall reading you can only add 4 remotes total and I am wondering if there are somehow older remotes programmed before I bought this Ranger. Also, does anyone know of a way to program this using a Ford OBDII programmer? I have a friend who works at a dealership who could help me if I tell him what I need to have programmed.

Thanks for any info.

When you do the 8 key turn thing, that clears everything. You need to set every fob when you do it, Even your original. Are you forgetting to program the original fob? If you just hit the new ones the original will be lost.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

For a 95 it should be 5 times, not 8.

When you do the key on and off correctly the door locks will cycle once, and that ERASES all fobs in memory, you do this in case a fob goes missing

Then you press any button on a fob, door locks will cycle IF keyless entry system can read that fob, wait 5 seconds and try again if it can't
Or add the next fob by pressing its button, locks will cycle, if not wait and try again

When done turn off the key and wait, locks should cycle one more time if 1 to 4 fobs were learned

If you cycle key on and off again any fobs in memory will be erased again, so have all the fobs you want to add with you and with a good battery BEFORE you start

Not all Ford Fobs or other makers fobs, work on all years of Ford vehicles

You can add a fob from another vehicle to a vehicle, so 2, 3, 4, ect vehicles can be unlocked or locked with 1 fob, this is often not practical if vehicles are near eachother, lol, but it can be done if the fob is accepted/learned by each vehicles keyless entry system
