Hi friends,
Could anybody shed light on what this is? Some kind of articulated swivel mount with what appears to be a capacitor. Was mounted near ignition coil. Initially I thought it was from the now-removed AC.

It is the AM radio interference suppressor and it is a capacitor with one wire and grounded via its metal body
It was hooked to Coils 12volt wire, "+" terminal, so may be a single wire loose connector near the coil

Its not required for vehicle operation, you will just hear REV static on some AM radio stations from the spark system without it connected

Google: ford noise suppressor capacitor images

You will see all the "flavors" they came in over the years
Not sure how that metal bracket was used, but its just a local Ground for the capacitor, so must have another function

New one may look like this: https://d2zl5tj7gmc4tr.cloudfront.net/images/products/18832-1b_20200416170442.jpg
You want to find it's connector on the coil's 12v wire to know what to replace it with, match connectors
If you even want to replace it

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Looks like somebody's idea of "art".

The noise suppression cap lacks its wire, and the base piece of the "sculpture" looks like a mounting bracket for an aftermarket alarm siren:

Actually, throw it on eBay as "Vintage Manic Mechanic Automotive Art".

If you reel in a sucker, 10% of the windfall would be greatly appreciated . . .
