Anyone thinking about the new 2.8 from Cummins to power a Ranger, probably a lot of work to do but I would really like one in my Ranger.

Kind of a late reply but I looked into it quite a bit and just can't find any way to hook a suitable trans to it. Buddies want me to go 4BT, but that's too dang heavy for me! The R2.8 is awesome all around if I could hook it to a Ford transmission! 2nd problem is that my total repower budget is 10K and the R2.8 eats up 80% of that up front!

I was just downtown Columbus Indiana this summer for the 100th celebration. There were tons of vehicles on display with that crate engine swapped in. I don't know any specifics, but almost anything you can imagine had the crate engine. The engine comes with a lot of what you need. I have seen a few aftermarket companies providing the rest. I would do it, and an aftermarket company provides what I need to install it in my Toyota, but I don't see how to make the air-conditioning work. I don't really care myself, but destroying the A/C is kind of bad when it is a nice truck that you might eventually want to sell.
