HI All'

Can anyone tell me, what is the newest year dash that will bolt up to an 89/92 cab? Been told up to 98, just looking to verify. Has anyone done this swap and if so do you have any pix?
Thanks, George.

A Gen 3 into a Gen 2 is not plug and play. The mounts are different, for one, not to mention the electronics are 100% different. Nobody has done it that I've seen around here.

Yes, but you need to qualify your response. It's not as simple as bolting it in, there are a lot of things to consider on the eletrical front. HVAC is completely different (eletronic vs vacuum)- that's a biggie.

I have a 97 ranger dash in an 84 ranger. I can be done but not for the faint at heart.

A little info on the whole project.
The dashes are almost the same width so that was not a problem. I used the heater assembly out of the 97 and all the wiring from the 97. Tilt wheel out of a 99 explorer. I have an air bag too. I was surprised that the firewall in the newer truck was very similar, so making everything fit was not too bad. An automatic truck would even be easier. I used a newer brake & clutch assembly to fit under the dash. I did have to do a little cutting & welding on the upper firewall so the newer dash would fit tight up to the window. It actually looks like it belongs in there. I also used the gen 2 door panels to make it look a little nicer. It gave me delayed wiper control, AC capability, cruise control and a lot better electrical system as I used the entire electrical system off the 97.

Hey, runningman, what did it take to put gen 2 door panels onto your gen 1 doors? I noted that the handles were very different, are they in the same spot? I was looking forward to doing the same swap and was hoping it was as easy as swapping the handles and the panels, is it?

x2 I wanted to know the SAME thing. I bought a 91 parts truck and would love to have that interior in my 88. Will it go in (plug and play)?

I am looking at doing the same. Might get a 95 donor motor and want to swap the 95 dash into my 89. Need to get as much info as I can before I buy it.

The doors panels was actually simple i think i had to drill 3 holes total just take everything from the gen two and once your door is stripped on the gen 1 it fits right on. the holes need to be drilled for the new door handle and then the arm rest plate . The gen 1 door is set up to fit the newer handle slude right into place .
This is runningmans son.
