2.3L ('83-'97) Dashboard off, engine not working

Hello, everyone.

Mine is a 1988 2,3 liters.
The problem is the dashboard is not getting on when I turn the key to the on position, nevertheless when I try to get the engine on the start motor runs and everything seems ok… but the truck does not run. If I push the gas or put some starter fluid while turning the key the engine seems to start, but I soon as I release the key the engine turns off.
Any idea what the problem might be and what should I do?

Ignition switch under the steering column is the issue

They can split apart, remove it and see if you can "zap strap" it back together
