Does the old ford key programming trick still work?

In my 2017 does the old school trick to program new chipped keys and fobs still work? Insert the 2 factory keys then the new key to program the chip, and turn a factory key to on 8 times to program the fobs?

Trying to figure out if it still works on newer stuff before I order more cheapo amazon keys...

It should, you need to use the newer 80bit keys if its 2011 or newer I think, older were 40bit so transmitted a short "number" which 80bit PATS wouldn't recognize

The keys I found on amazon are suppose to be direct replacements for my 2017 fiesta. Doesn't say if they are 40 or 80 bit but they look identical. They are the type with the FOB as part of the key and the weird side milled cuts. Only other info says
  • Compatible with: CWTWB1U793, 5915237
I have both factory keys. Just didn't wanna order the new ones without knowing if I could still program them myself.

It was 13k brand new, only needs gas once a month, and gets me to work. :c-n:

And its white since it was a fleet model just like my truck. And like my truck... it was the most stripped down basic thing I could find brand new. With the exception of the dual clutch transmission it's a great little fart mobile.

The door lock/unlock programming is different and looks like you need a programmer to add more keys

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Dammnit Ford!!!! Stick with what works! At least the buttons are still easy to program and that's really all I need is another fob to open the doors. I'll just do that for now and then find or borrow a scanner with programming functions at some point to make the key start the car.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
You drive a Fiesta and yet you had the audacity to tell me to turn in MY man card a few days ago? Sorry man. Your credibility is nil.

I can program anything Ford at work. If you're ever in or near Toms River on a weeknight, let me know.

You can get a regular key and it will program with the customer program feature. Standalone fobs can also be done the old way. Scanner programming is only needed if you want a fully functional IKT unit.

This was at least true of the 15s which is the newest year I have any hands on experience with.

At least I'm not driving it around with a perm and a manicure!

It may work with the IKT. I know it works with the separate ones.
