My `23 STX 2WD runs strong but sounds like a sewing machine.
Are there any really drone-free exhausts available for it that sound good but are not "straight-pipe" loud? Borla says they have one but customers say they do drone. Help!

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
First.. do you find the classic 4 cyl exhaust note appealing?

If you happen to be a big v8 noise elitist than I doubt there's gonna be an exhaust for that truck you'll like listening to.

I had an AFE muffler delete on my '21 when I had it.. and I thought it was perfect. Liked it enough I bought a delete for the Bronco.

Thanks but "a big V8 noise elitist"? Where did that come from? My question is about my turbo 4-cylinder. I'm 79, not quite a novice.
The question: Is there an aggressive-sounding muffler/tailpipe replacement available that DOES NOT DRONE?

My question was born from mere observation.

Old school guys.. who grew up during hot roddings youth and learned to wrench on 5-6-7 liter v8s.. generally seem to hate the exhaust note of anything else.. with these new fangled 4 cylinders being their absolute least favorite.

If you don't like the sound a 4 banger makes.. your probably better off just turning the radio up.

That’s a lot of assumption while ignoring the simple question which I reiterated for you above since you seem to have missed the point. If you have no constructive reply, just move on. For the record, I dislike drone from V8’s, 6’s and 4 cylinders of any and all configurations and eras. Hence my question!

you'd know if I wasn't replying in a constructive manner..

I was trying to gather more information about your personal opinions so I could help you further, by asking some simple questions. Such tactics aren't unusual during human conversation...

Honestly.. I believe I'm the only person here who's had an aftermarket exhaust on a Ranger that new. Lots of folks here are the 'v-motor sound elitists' I talked about.. leading them to leave their 2019+ exhausts stock. Not talking "down" on these guys mind you.. it's just their preference. Different strokes right? It's fine.

Your best bet will probably be to watch some reviews of different options on YouTube.

I don’t know of one but that doesn’t mean one doesn’t exists. The limitation is the engine. Because of it being a four cylinder, a lot of the exhausts are going to have a fart can sound and the drone that goes with it. I wish you luck on your search.

The suggestion of checking out the different offerings via youtube reviews will help but a video and real life is going to lose something in translation.

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
The turbo itself will quiet the exhaust somewhat. Guy at the Truck Nationals had a '21 with the MBRP dual cat-back, I asked him if it droned and he said no.
I had a Gibson cat-back on my old Sport Trac, V6 no turbo, and the interior drone was terrible.

Keep it quiet, no 4 cyl gas engine sounds good with a loud muffler.
