Mexico is considered Central America. Let’s just say the truck is American made, as in made on the American Continent and call it good.
That's funny to me, because actually USA is central to Canada and Mexico

“America” includes north and South America. Mexico is kind of in the middle... hence the central.

Sorry, mexico is part of the North america, central dosent start until Guatemala, hence the, until recently ,named NAFTA- North American free trade agreement that included Canada, The US and Mexico.

If you wanna be real sticky as far as continents go, most of central America and the Caribbean is too, as it is not well defined what it actually is , but we usually leave Central America and the Caribbean separate.

Geography dork hat off now:rolleyes:

I will be straight with ya..... why do I care where it is from?
Oh wait is this a race thing?
Are you implying those Mexicans are shiftless lazy buggers who dont know how to build an engine because they don't make $35.00 an hour?? Is that what you are saying?
Idly curious here...

You're jumping to conclusions. I think most of us found it interesting because this is the first documentation we've seen of Ford moving this engine's production a new plant. Just a trivia thing. Originally in Valencia, Spain, then recently moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Not a good or bad thing, just news.

The truck is assembled in Michigan I believe if we are really just idly curious I didn't see anyone mention that but might have missed it.
And with all due respect. To be news it has to have relevance. I question the relevance unless someone is implying that because it is put together at a Ford plant in Mexico that it isn't as good.
The reason we have a NAFTA ( and don't fool yourself we still have one no matter what it is called) is to raise the standard of living for all citizens of NA, which means USA, Canada, Mexico.
It really seems that someone was trying to discredit this edition of the truck because the engine is assembled in Mexico. Unfortunately to do that you are discrediting the Mexican labor force.
I am not trying to make a big deal out of nothing.... I am just expressing a perspective from a fresh set of eyes that just arrived on site and doesn't know any of you... I Just know how this thread reads to me.....

You are interpreting something that simply isn't there. And it has relevance to some of us, so it's news. Simple as that.

since you're a new member I'll cut you some slack.

several members here were at the Ford plant for an introduction day a few months ago.
we are all curious about every aspect of the new Ranger.
stating where the engine is made is simply that, stating where the engine is made.

It's a trivia thing that many vehicle enthusiasts like. It's neither a good or bad thing, just an item of note. Many of the Ranger engines are/were not of US origin. They may have been built in the US later on but originally were not.

+1.

I know where most of my trucks original major components were produced, where most of its current components were produced and that the truck was built 2-19-85 at the Louisville truck plant in Kentucky.

That stuff is interesting to me.

My credo
the grey-t escape
Shoot , whirlpool likes to put “America” stickers on all of their dryers, they might be assembled here, but nearly all the parts are foreign. Explains why the component parts don’t always fit together well.

noticed something about the content sticker,,,,,,,
US/Canadian content is 50%
"major foreign content" 16%, from Mexico.

what about the remaining 34% ? :icon_confused:

16% is more major than 34% ? :dunno:

(apologies to Ranger850 for hijacking his 34% question)
NO problem, nobody pays attention to my post anymore. BUT,I think this is the REAL question here anyways. Where does the 0ther 34% come from? That's over/about one third of the truck?
2parts NA, 1part ???
@pjtoledo I think it's Australian/Brazilian bleed over parts from the ROTW T6Ranger
