Greetings, I have a 1997 Ford Ranger 4x4 3.0 V6 that spun a bearing. It needs a donor engine and I'm looking to get it replaced and up and running. My 2 options are to get a crate from Jegs or Summit or take it out of my donor 1997 Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 4x4. Will this work and convert easy or should I just go with the crate option? The condition of the Ranger requires some minor body work and a good undercoat. I'm trying to weigh out my options and would greatly appreciate any input and insight.

Thanks!

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Since it sounds like you have the complete Explorer, I would recommend the 4.0. You can get the whole engine, transmission, wiring harness and Ecu. Sounds like the cheaper way to go and I have read many many recommendations on this site for using the 4.0l.
