Hello and thanks in advance, I am replacing the 4.0 in my 99 with a 2002 4.0, the motor came with all the wiring harness on it. All but one of the plugs look the same. It has two yellow wires in the connector where my original has only one. Not sure what it goes to. The connection is under the master cylinder, the round plug is on the replacement engine.

Not sure, maybe ABS, rear only or 4-wheel depending on which each vehicle had

RABS did have just one yellow wire to proportioning valve switch in 1998, also light blue, black/pink and black/white wires

Your engine to body harness connector should be in that location, and the square connector with rounded corners looks like what I have on my '99. Did the '02 also come out of a Ranger? Just curious, as one of the odd issues with my own swap was Ford reversing the engine/body sides of that connector between the Explorer and Ranger.

Engine came out of a 2 wheel drive Ranger, mine is four wheel drive. I hope it isn't something to do with the transfer case. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for the 2002 to see what the yellow wires are.

Shouldn't have anything to do with 2 or 4wd. Can you use your 99 engine harness and sensors on your 02? Ideally that's the best solution.
