My credo
I poop in the furnace.
The hose from the purge valve to the intake manifold is falling apart. But in typical ford fashion they used quick connect fittings instead of normal barb fittings so I can't just slap a length of rubber line on there.

The entire hose assembly is impossible to find but I've found quick connect to barb fitting adapters online. However I cant figure out what size it is, anyone know how the sizes work for the quick connect fittings? Or more specifically exactly what fitting is on the purge valve on a 2009 2.3L so I can order the right quick connect to barb fitting adapters?

Didn't expect a response... but here's a better question. HOW THE EFF DO THESE FITTINGS EVEN COME OFF! I thought they used regular ford fuel line tools but there's nothing that can slide into them. Theres a white thing that "LOOK" like it might be a clip you pop out with a pick but it does not move!

What the eff is wrong with hose clamps ford!!!!! Its just a vacuum line!!!!

I don't even care about the actual purge valve but I cant afford to break the nipple on the manifold!

Maybe like the trans line you push the white piece into the fitting?

Come on... A man of your caliber shouldn't get beat up by a simple quick connector.

Push the white part in... twist and pull.

As to the hose clamp comment: It quicker to just plug something that automatically locks in. It saves time on the assembly line.

Whoa.... That bad, huh? Wanna come direct some of that rage at my ISP? Maybe with rage like that, they'll actually upgrade their systems so that my internet wouldn't keep going up and down like a toilet seat.

Eff you fitting!

Apparently at some point I had this off before. The reason it wouldn't move is because I had put rtv on it for some reason... I don't remeber doing it, no one else has EVER touched my truck and there's no logical reason it would have RTV on it from the factory. Though they did use the cheapest garbage hose in existence. Out of every vacuum, fuel line, and hose on this truck this is the ONLY one that is dry rotted into crumbling dust. I'm gonna replace it with regular fuel line and put an aluminum heat sleeve on it.

So I go to the store, grab a length of 3/8 line and some spring clamps, then run over to the HVAC shop and get heat sheilding....

Come home and there's two boxes on the hood of my truck from ford. OEM hose assemblies. Apparently my buddy got tired of my bitching about this hose for 3 days and called dealers through his work (truck smart) found them and ordered them just so I would shut the hell up. :icon_rofl:

IM NOT PAYING HIM FOR THEM! 54 dollars for 2 stupid hoses!

That's right, IM STILL COMPLAINING!!!!

I should look at mine. it's older and with a lot more miles.

why heat shielding? that hose doesn't go near the exhaust.
can you post the part #, I could use one for my next engine.

It deteriorated for some reason. Figured heat shielding may help. :dunno:

I am unclear on how you feel about Ford, their assembly line workers, and their hose connections. Would please expand upon that? Thanks in advance!
