Balancing a driveshaft with hose clamps isn't "ghetto", the procedure was in Ford's driveline vibration manual they released for the Fairmont.
If you re tube it yourself make sure you have the u joints in phase or you'll never get the vibration out of it. In phase means aligned exactly on the same plane.
The dual hose clamp balancing was in the NVH WBT course I did in 2007.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
If the shaft is in balance it doesn't care if there's a hose clamp on it or a welded on weight. A brand new electronically shaft would run smooth, too, and would look more impressive to anyone you ran over but it would cost more and deliver the same result.

I'm not really referring to a hose clamp vs a welded on weight or anything appearance wise... More to the fact that a computer is more precise. Same with tire balancing. A old fashion bubble balancer works fine, but a digital machine is more precise.

That's no doubt true but if the shaft is balanced enough to run smooth the customer will be happy. Ford allows .035" shaft runout so tolerances can't be too tight.

I'm actually not sure actually how they do this but I will see it in the next week or so. But I've been told that these off road race guys balance the drive shafts in n the truck. I'll let you know how it goes after I see the process
