Hello everyone.

Im building a V8 powered ranger and want to upgrade the brakes on my truck. I have already upgraded the master cylinder and brake booster from a mustang. Im using the hydroboost system that they used in the later 90s and early 2000s. Had this idea of using the front and rear brakes from a F150. I understand the bolt patterns are different. Im just wondering is anyone has done this swap or is there a better idea. My other reasoning is that I want to run 17 inch steel wheels on the truck. I have not been able to find steel wheels for the rangers bolt pattern and say a 17x9 size. I really dont want to run adapters. Trying to give it a race truck look and the larger brakes would be a bonus.

What year is the Ranger? There may be factory options or junkyard upgrades depending on the year.

Rangers have the same bolt pattern as Jeeps. If you can't find steel wheels you want you're not looking very hard. I googled "17x9 steel jeep wheel" and had a bunch of results in 10 seconds of searching. You could also search "d window" or "soft 8" as those are common steel wheel designs that can have a NASCAR look on the right vehicle.

The JK Wrangler introduced in 07 started the 5x5 pattern. All wranglers, Cherokees and Grand Cherokees before 06 were 5 X 4.5. Same as Mustangs, Nissan 350Z/Infiniti g35, and certain years of Subaru WRX/STI.

If your truck is an 02, it could have either 10 or 11" front rotors. If it's got 10" rotors, you can upgrade to the 11" by swapping the spindles and rotors with no modifications. I think Explorer Sport Tracs came with 12" rotors too. I think those were torsion bar suspensions, so if your truck is also torsion bar, that's another factory, bolt on option. If your truck is coil springs in front, then you could use the 12" Sport Trac rotors, but would need to make a caliper bracket to move the caliper out enough to clear the larger rotors.

Some Jeeps used a 5x5 1/2" bolt pattern. Had a set of CJ wheels on my old '93 F150.

Yeah, about 50 years ago grandpa.
I think the CJ was the last Jeep to use 5x5.5 in ‘86.

coils or torsion bars up front? it matters for the Sport Track fitment.

Crown Vics & Mauraders also had 5 x 4.5, offsets varies per year.

what city are you in/near?
