I got rusty 2.0 back togther and had a pretty good vacuum leak.

Using the ether method i found it was leaking on the front two bolts of the upper plenium.

Pulled it apart and realized the gasket wasnt lining up right...like it was manufactured wrong. The bolt hole was a good 1/4 in-1/2 in off and it sat crooked.

I didnt notice it till i pulled it back apart....but is this a known issue with them? Or is it just a fluke thing?

I ordered another set, im gonna take the upper plenium with me and make sure they work before leaving the store.

I keep various types of gasket material around just for this sort of thing. Advance Auto has sheets of it for cheap, especially if you use a 25% off coupon code.. Saved my butt more than once.. It's nice to be able to cut your own gasket and get your stuff back in service, rather than waiting on a gasket to show up at a parts store, etc.

I picked up several rolls years ago at Rural King that have been very handy.

It's good stuff to have around. It'll fix everything from your lawnmower to your truck or tractor. Nice insurance to have.. I use an exacto-knife to cut my gaskets, after I use a pair of dirty-ass hands to make the gasket template. I just lay some thin white paper on the gasket surface and use my dirty fingers to mark the outside edges and bolt holes, and then use that to outline the gaskets. It's always served me well.

I had to replace most of my felpro gaskets with the right stuff from permatex. Felpro is not as good as they use to be unfortunately. It will be a pain to take back apart but I would look into a different manufacturer if the part store gives you another one just like it from felpro.
