Im thinking about building a figure 8 car for next year...

Ive built demo cars in the past but its been quite a while. My last car was a 75 LTD with a 351M.

I have located a 99 town car, with alot of miles, i can source for 300 bucks. Perfect canadate IMO

Heres what im curious about.....how do you hook up a marine tank inside the vehicle with EFI??

Summit, jegs etc sell inline pumps that have enough pressure for EFI. Don't know the regs for your track but my local tracks, boat tanks are a huge no no. You have to use an actual safety rated fuel cell. And if you use a fuel cell, you can use an in tank pump.

Ill have to look up the regs. Back last time i did a marine tank was fine. But thats been probably....15 years ago.

So basically its a manner of hookin up the fuel cell and running wires off the factory relay?

Pumps like these run about 100 bucks. You may need a secondary fuel pressure regulator. The more expensive ones are adjustable. (Too much pressure will blow the factory regulator). 99 panther car should be 65psi I think. But yes you can just wire it to the factory fuel pump harness given the amp draw matches. (Which it definitely should)

I switched my 65 mustang 289 to efi and use the factory tank and pickup and run an inline pump with a inline regulator. You obviously need a tank with a return line. Some are just single line and a vent.

Yeah, check the regs. Last I heard, you had to have a crash resistant fuel cell.

My circuit requires a steel cell with an inner bladder.
And the cell has to be walled off from the driver.

Ill have to look into it. If i gotta outfit it like a damned nascar i aint gonna screw with it.

My old LTD just needed the door reinforced, welded shut, glass knocked out and a marine tank mounted IIRC on the pass side floorboard. I even used the factory bench with shoulder harness.

I ran that car 2 years in arena style. Finally blew it up when i got locked up with a big 440 chrysler of some sort (new yorker i think), bit more then that old LTD could chew at that point.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Looking forward to pix and videos. I've seen videos of figure 8 racing with trailers. It's fun to watch.

They have school bus figuring 8 racing at one of the tracks around here. It's neat but the track is way too small for them to get moving fast enough to actually be exciting.

They had those around here to. I went to one once, if they had a big track where they could actually get more then 15mph itd be interesting.

I say let them run the oval ungoverned at MIS.

Nowadays, almost all of the beater series races require an ungodly amount of safety crap. Currently saving towards outfitting one of the parts trucks as a 24 Hours of Lemons entrant.

Isn't that the story of every Ford? Stomp on everything GM ever built all day long, then one big block Mopar comes along and ruins everything for everyone. ?
