It took 3 different junkyards to find a tan one in a Mercury Mountaineer. Once home was taken completely apart and each piece cleaned then put back together. Still have to get rid of the 60/40 seats, so I will have plenty of time to make some adjustments to this console. The lid was junk and another has been ordered along with a leather boot for the shifter. The black pieces for the shifter and the cups need to be repainted. There are 2 screws shown down by the 12v cover on the side. Not sure what was there but It broke off, maybe was something aftermarket. Anybody got any ideas pls post response.

The top back were vents for heating and ac. Took the vents out and have idea for glasses pouch there. Below that were dials for those in the back seat for heating and ac. New panel for that will be USB charge station for things that can charge in the back if needed. Cup holder will remain a cup holder.
26688

Bottom backside has vent holes on each side. Great place for led light.
26689

Brown napkins in the tissue box holder. Complements of Taco Bueno.
26690

Tada
26691

12v charger will be connected to the one that was inside the ashtray area.

26693

Lots of space underneath to maybe to hide a amp.
26694

CD rack not going back inside. Going to put another USB charger in here with cloth padding and pockets much like the inside of a nice camera bag.
26695

Well those are some ideas I have, If you have something to add please post and give me some ideas. I will post pictures when complete.

Getting some pieces in that had been ordered. Thought I would get a couple of things going and get them to a tailor. First cut out the plastic piece in the middle, completely cut off the bottom. On the top cut leave about 1/4" of plastic. Get an old coat hanger and bend two pieces into the shape of the opening as shown below. The lower cut piece will rest on the center of the plastic that runs horizontal on the bottom.

The upper cut piece will rest on the 1/4" cut center piece of plastic previously indicated.
fullcenterconsole11.jpg.jpg

Going to use the shifter boot that wont fit the opening for the shifter like I wanted. But I can turn it inside out, remove the metal center and have it stitched up. Turn it back right side out and fit it around the cut pieces of coat hanger. Need a little adjustments at a tailor but this is kind of what its going to look like. Plenty of room for a phone or a pair of reading glasses.
fullcenterconsole14.jpg.jpg

Cut the front section of the CD rack off and cut a hole for the USB charger.
fullcenterconsole15.jpg.jpg

Install the USB charger and put the cut piece of the cd rack back into the console.
fullcenterconsole17.jpg.jpg

Camera Bag needs to fit the opening. Console opening is 27.5cm long, 19cm tall and 14cm wide. I found an exact fit on ebay. Be aware that bags can be up to 3cm off one way or the other when mass produced.
fullcenterconsole18.jpg.jpg

Insert the camera bag into console opening. The lid will have to be removed and a hole will have to be altered for the USB. Going to use high temp Velcro to hold the camera bag in place. This Velcro does not work well with fabric, so will have to stitch the hook of the Velcro onto the fabric. The fuzzy part of the Velcro will be stuck the plastic of the console much later.
fullcenterconsole19.jpg.jpg

Break off the little plastic clips on the side. Take notice the ridge along the bottom. After inserting the Camera Bag into the Console, work this ridge with your fingers back and forth along the ridge. You are working the foam inside the bag to move up above the ridge. The ridge also runs up the side to the top.
fullcenterconsole21.jpg.jpg

New altered storage pocket, looks good.
fullcenterconsole22.jpg.jpg

And new altered Camera Bag. It came with 4 center pieces and they can be moved around to better fit what will be needed or even taken out. The velcro was sown around the top only and I will be putting the fuzzy side on the plastic later after it is installed.

Removed ashtray, the plastic vent and the cup holder shifter boot. Cleaned the carpet up alittle.
20190617_160838.jpg

Cut the top front of console for shifter. Cut along the edge with a Dremel in a square.
20190616_105203.jpg

Cut the bottom of the vent up the side as much as I could and squared off the back even with the top.
20190616_164022.jpg

Put the console into position for marking carpet cut.
20190616_152919.jpg

Cut carpet and found 2 holes I didn't expect to find. They match up perfect for the middle support. Not so lucky for the back.
20190617_160918.jpg

Drilled out the holes for a 5/16 pop nut insert. Also drilled a hole in the middle of each of the 2 tabs on the bottom back of the console. Sorry no picture but you will see in later photos.
20190617_165554.jpg

Put the console back in and bolted the middle here down and then marked the holes for the back.
20190617_170934.jpg

Drilled out the holes for the back and added 2 more 5/16 pop nut inserts.
20190617_175529.jpg

At this point I've put the console in 8 or 9 times. The tabs are about 1/2" from flush with the floor of the truck so I used a couple of large washers and a 3/4" nut for spacer. It works till I can come up with something better.

Got it in and going to drive with it for a while and work on it as I can. Having problem finding the right sized leather shifter boot. I've bought 2 of them now, and neither has had the base opening needed.
20190617_184833.jpg

Took apart the control panel in back all the way down to the bracket. Then taped a piece of abs to the bracket with some 3m tape. Drilled a hole a little off center for some reason with a hole saw for the usb charger. Going to have to give this another try. The console is tall enough to block view of the hole left in the driver side seat from the 60/40 console.

Very cool. If I didn't have a manual t-case shifter to deal with I'd probably be doing the same thing you did.

No longer own the truck as of end of last year. No pictures of it back together, but I have a new truck and will be doing the same thing. Went ahead and cut the 60/40 driver seat to bucket but am waiting for warmer days to start looking in junkyards.
