I built off of a 2005 ford ranger 4.0 manual transmission. I extended the frame the allow for the long bed (ford never made an extended cab long bed) Undercoated the frame swapped the rear axle for a limited slip 4.10 gear. Lifted the truck and added the 33X12 wheels. Truck drives great needs nothing it is one of a kind. In the bed the truck has a solar panel recharging a battery in the back that runs the exterior lights for camping as well as lights inside the bed and 12v plugins on the cap. In september I drove the truck to Wyoming 1500 miles each way on a hunting trip. Truck did great on the highway and offroad. The truck has AC and cruise control. and a kenwood radio. Also I repainted the truck Toyota Quicksand tan like the new Toyota's. Its up for sale if anyone is interested $10k

very nice!

how many hours did you put into building it? I would also be interested in more pics of your battery box/ solar panel construction...

I would love to find a long bed ranger for parts and make a trailer that matches my extended cab and convert that trailer into a camper like what you have set up. the only issue I have at this point is time... no time to do it :(

the grey-t escape
awesome! ive wanted to do this myself for years but didnt feel it was worth all the effort to gain 1ft of bed space. My plan was to take a longbed frame, cut it at the rear cab mounts, do the same with a supercab truck then splice the frames together, lengthening brake lines and wiring harness, send driveshaft out to be made proper length.

How I did it I picked up a parts ranger with a long bed drilled out the rivets on both trucks extended the original front frame on my extended cab by approx 6" then bolted up the long bed rear frame (this gives you the 6" infront the wheel needed and 6" behind the wheel needed) Then extended the brake lines and lengthened the wiring harness. The fuel tank stayed in the same place. and had a new drive shaft made, the driveshaft was around $350 with new U Joints. Main reason I lengthened it was for room to sleep in the back but also to carry gear when I head out hunting out west. AJ I'll get the pictures of the solar setup here in a little bit. I used the renogy 100 Watt solar panel with charger kit on amazon for around $160 really simple to install took maybe 45 minutes.
