I realized the other day that the arm rest on my 2004 felt kinda lumpy, and in fact there was a junk of the plastic support under the pad that was broken right out if it - right where your elbow would go. It took some doing to get the cover apart (there are 4 torx screws under the foam), and I was amazed at how cracked and broken it was. Is this a known failure or was someone putting huge amounts of force on it?

Anyway, the cover was made from ABS so I was able to solvent weld the thing back together with acetone. I heated it moderately with a heat gun to drive off the solvents. It seems to be strong, but I won't put any load on it for a day or so.

The armrest and box only comes as an assembly for about $250 (4L5Z-10644A22-CAA), though I'll eventually find one in the junkyard.

Most in the JY are already busted, most of the time. My dad rigged up a piece of wood, that looks pretty good actually. He used the stock hinge assembly and a router on the wood so it could close properly

My repair is holding well so far. I'll keep an eye out when I'm scavenging.
