Hey everyone, I don't currently own a Ranger though we've had several in the past and other similar vehicles (1997 Explorer). I have sort of a unique project coming up, which is to buy and recreate a Ranger that my wife had years ago. It was a 1993 supercab XL 4x4 with the 3.0, 5-speed manual, and was I believe Cayman green. It was family owned since new, her first car, and went on many trips with it so it was pretty special to her. Unfortunately my wife sold it years ago, it was getting old at the time, probably on it's 2nd or 3rd engine, and she regretted it deeply ever since. I realize that her original Ranger is probably long gone, crushed long ago in a junkyard, but I'd like to surprise her by recreating the Ranger she used to have, within reason of course and money/time/logistics permitting.

Hope to get some good info here!

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Welcome!

Sounds like a fun project; good luck with it!

I don't know a lot about the differences tho I see people sometimes discussing them, but if I had it all to do over again, knowing what I know now, which is still little to brag about, I'd still prefer my 4.0 to a 2.9 or 3.0

Yes I've actually seen a few of those episodes, in fact it partially inspired me to go ahead with this project. She really got into the details of that build, more so than I'd ever do, though the main difference is that she was rebuilding her grandmas (?) truck in the same configuration whereas I may need to make major modifications, if I'm unable to find what I need. Regardless she did an impressive job and the videos would probably end up helping me visualize how it all goes together.
