My credo
"be kind and considerate"
I'm looking for opinions as to an automatic conversion to my '96 XLT Ranger. 4.0L. This truck isn't traveled in beyond 50miles from where I live. It is mostly an errand and bush runner for hunting. I've owned it about 8 years and am tired of the standard trans. The T-case is a switch style which will be converted to a manual once I acquire a good automatic. All info considered but I am not interested in standards any further. I'm a fairly good shade-tree with a long Ford history including build-ups but......I'm also 70. Here is a pic from my mud-racing past.

Love the pic...hehe!
I don't see you having too many problems going to auto. I'm not too familiar with that era trans, I believe the 4r55e or 5r55e. And you will need the computer [ecu] as it controls both engine and trans. The trans donor will also need to be a 4.0, 4he bellhousing is different between different engine sizes.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Welcome to TRS! Nice truck!
