Been a long time since I was here but just purchased a new 2019 Ranger FX4.

I looked around a bit and my old Ranger is still featured in the tires tech article (I should've kept that truck)

Can't wait to start tweaking this new one.

To meet emissions levels at idle newer vehicles will shut off the engine when you stop and then restart it when you press the gas pedal, so low or no idle emissions, no it is not for better MPG

You can disable this, but you have to do it EACH TIME you turn on the key to drive, the above does that for you

Maybe a 2min install


IMO..................the wear and tear on startup including starter motor use, is not good for any engine system
If I am going to sit awhile then I will turn off the key, my choice
