My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
SO, I charged my system last night and today I found that the high side valve is leaking so I must change the line due to Fords infinite wisdom use of the ball style schrader valve.

Is there a special tool to remove the connection clips? Or is like many other connections that a little prying with a screwdriver will work? :icon_confused:

You are making a very good decision replacing the lines! they come as a set.
There is also a short line from the condenser to the evaporator on the passenger side. I got mine from RockAuto and I also got the Lisle plastic special tool ($6) for the quick connects, and they work perfectly
I had picked up the metal dog bone type and they are just too thick to fit inside the spring recess on the quick connect.
Also be sure to get a new orifice, they are very cheap and almost always clogged up with garbage even though good running systems.

The '90 I pulled the condenser out of over the weekend did have big clips over the connectors you use the tool for. Mine pried off, I have them clipped back on here:

I have a cheap A/C-fuel line tool that is metal and kind of like an X I keep in my JY toolbox. It worked pretty good. I also keep the Lisle one under he seat of my F-150.

To use the 4.0 lines you do nee the 4.0 condenser, but be aware that those hook ups are not in the same spot as the 1st gen condensers, and you are going to have to cut your core support a little to make it fit.

That is a 4.0 condenser.
