I bumped it(while lowered) bending one of the hinges in a bit causing a good amount of friction while moving it up and down. I was thinking wrapping a strap around it and tying it to something really solid like an electric pole or tree pulling out against it which I may try unless someone has any better ideas. Anyone? Thanks

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
That may work. Use a winch or come-along to do the pulling so you have fine control of the movement. Also, chock the wheels. You may also be able to remove the tailgate and use a hammer and punch or other tools to move the hinge pieces around.

Thanks. Yeah, I think the "come-along" is a good idea.
