1998 b2500 replacing shocks with probable oem
what I really don't know is what works real world
no topper but might be after tomorrow & it's a newer fiber glass version
nothing real large or over weighted
ran the truck through a tire shop for inspection beforehand (lesschwab)
came out great cept for recommended shock replace all around

looking now @ gabriels kyb & fsc + maybe monroes
like kyb's description of the build quality

prefer control , ride , & handling & some expected longevity in the shock itself
bilsteins have been mentioned on other forums , but I'm not taking this off road
simple daily driver

any preferences-experiences might share ?

thank you in advance !

My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
I run the Gabriel Max controls up front and the Gabriel Ultras in the rear and I like the handling it has. Now mine only gets driven about once a week and only on roads but they have held up great.

I know another on here runs the same set up and I haven't seen a complaint from him either.

KYB's are good for EOM replacements to give the OEM ride and control.

yes all on road drives here , like a controlled & smooth ride , including that back set of shocks
if the Gabriels offer this for a rwd b2500 plus cab I'd say why not....when that topper goes on if it does
guessing that'll even out the overall feel , right now though it's just the basic truck itself

please elaborate ,

They don't HAVE to be for offroad use.. bilstien actually sells a few different 'classes' of their shocks.. some more geared for offroad and some are more aimed at a street driver.

Their warranty is a pretty good indicator of their quality... I'm a big proponent of their stuff.

The bilstiens you'd be looking for are the 4600 series, yellow bodies. The more offroady/lifted ones are the 5100 series that have a silver body.

thanks for the link!
looking @ bilstiens @ or gabriels then , tire shop mentioned everything else solid
any suggestions as to possible xtra parts or supplies should have on hand ?
thinking I'll do these myself , watched a few vid's , much simpler than those 70's Honda's
12hrs-4struts R&R as a novice not knowing the disaster I'd stepped into...
