I'm looking to get a secondary truck to do the truck stuff I do with my little 08 2.3. I need more power for towing my boat, camping gear, and trailers of pellets. I like short wheel base trucks. When was the last year they made 4.0s with regular cabs. 4x4 vs rwd doesn't matter much to me. I don't do any off road driving except hunting season but chains get me by. I definitely don't want another 3.0 so if I don't find one I like I'll probably end up with a 96 or older 150 short bed 4x4. I do have this nice rebuilt 351 4 barrel that was going to be put in my scrambler until I decided to go back to original (85hp iron duke)

Not sure there was a "last" year except for 2012, last model year of Ranger.

4.0l usually only came in extended cab in all years since 1990, first 4.0l in Rangers
Regular cabs were 4cyl or the smaller V6 for MPG reasons

People did order 4.0ls in regular cab, 2WD and 4WD, but I don't think factory built many on spec.

4WD regular cab 4.0l is a bit of a unicorn for the most part, but they do exist just not easy to find.
Probably more 2WD regular cab 4.0l's but not alot.

F-150s would be much easier to find

Look for Mazda B4000. Same truck as ranger just has Mazda badges.

I have only found two 4.0l Ranger single cab over many years searching. I have found numerous Mazda B4000 in single cab form 2wd and 4wd all with manual transmission though. Not many Mazdas came with the automatic from what ive found.

That's good because I don't want an auto. I did find a taco I really like though. Still haven't found any f150s to my liking with no rust.

Left work early today to check out the taco. The dealer miss represented it online as a 4.0 not a 4 cylinder. If it was a 6 I'd be signing papers but I don't really need 3 4 bangers. Couldn't find any b4000 online that were regular cab. The only 4.0 regular cab I found was too old to finance through my banks. I have no credit history of any installment payments so that's why I'm looking for a newer truck. And if I can't find one I'll just take my 5g and put it into an older f150.
