1999 3.0 87k. suddenly left turn signals dont work. fuses good, pulled all four corners and swapped bulbs all good, dont have tilt wheel but checked wires to multifunction plugs none loose, removed multi switch and cleaned sprayed down with electronics cleaner no change. flasher flashes right side only and right blinker works. can't afford to throw parts at it. anyone with a similar problem? any ideas? Thanks.

In 1999 there is only 1 wire OUT of multi-function switch for each side's turn signal bulb(includes dash bulbs)

For Right side its a white/blue stripe wire
Left side is a Green/white stripe wire

Hazard and turn use same flasher but different power sources(fuses) thru the flasher
If neither, hazard or turn, works on left side then problem is not fuse or flasher

Either multi-function switch is bad or green/white wire is, only two options

Test green/white wire at switch connection, see if it has 12v(on/off) with hazards on

Test white/blue stripe as well, right side, just so you know what left side should look like with hazards on

These wires go down under the dash and are spliced to dash and front and back bulbs

did some testing

With the flashers ON the blue/white and brown/yellow both pulsated on the test light. Only the right side bulbs flashed.

With the right side signal on and right side bulbs flashing the blue/white wire pulsated on the test light.

With the left side signal on the brown/yellow wire did nothing and the blue/white wire produced a buzzing which when connected too long blew the # 21 hazard fuse. I believe the buzz came from the hazard relay.

Ideas?

Thanks

Brown/yellow wire is for trailer light turn signal/hazard right side
Blue/white is for left side trailer
They run to fuses 3 and 7 not to turn signal bulbs on the truck

So ignore those wires, they use different contacts inside multi-function switch

Green/white stripe is left side signals for the truck
White/blue is right side

"With the left side signal on the brown/yellow wire did nothing and the blue/white wire produced a buzzing which when connected too long blew the # 21 hazard fuse. I believe the buzz came from the hazard relay"

Reads like a short in the multi-function switch

retested with similar results

with flashers on green/white and white/blue both pulsated the test light

with the right signal on green/white wire pulsated the test light, white/blue did nothing

with left signal on white/blue wire produced the same buzzing from the flasher as the trailer blue/white wire did. i didn't hold the connection long enough to blow a fuse. green/white did nothing.

maybe that multi function switch has gotten roughed up from my knee always hitting the low curved lever.

Thanks
