whats the dash like on your 96? does it have the little knock-out panels under the headlight switch where you can mount stuff like my 89 does?

im using this switch style

so i did a hole on the left side of the lights switch and placed it there. its easier to reach and keeps the lights controls in one place.
i have 2 sets of lights, but i run them with one switch. first the parking lamps have to be On so the switch powers up

Like RSH said, anywhere near the light switch. Keeps all the light switches in one area. Looks like there's more room to the right of the dimmer if your gonna run more than 1 switch.

ah you've got the tricky style of dash to try and mount stuff on haha!

i think your best bet will be the grey area to the right of the dimmer knob...

Get a radio bezel with the stock fog light switch and use that.
