Can I take the posie carrier from the rear of a 1996 4.0 explorer witch is a 373 disc brake posie...
Put that in the front of my 88 Ranger ttb that was upgraded to 1991 explorer front axle ? It did work great till I put in the lunchbox locker in and that makes horrible LOUD disengaging reingaging nightmare noises AND has to go..

You want to take the limited slip out of a 31 spline Ford 8.8 rear and put it in a Dana 35?

No... that won't work.

"Lunch box" lockers work by ratcheting... like a wrench. So they make alot of noise. Limited slip systems work using clutch discs so they are silent but slip more.

You want both wheels spinning, enjoy the noise. You want one wheel turning, enjoy the quiet. Can't have it both ways. Well unless you buy a selective locker like an ARB for a grand...

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Does it work?
That's what I was wondering. Might just need thinner shims behind the side pieces so it has room to release properly. Mine sometimes doesn't want to release, usually if there is a lot of side loading while making s tight turn. Normally, though, it's a fairly innocent clicking sound. Mine is an Aussie. Might be louder for other styles or brands.

The only lunchbox locker I’ve ever heard was a loud SOB. Clack! Clack! Clack! It wasn’t mine and I don’t know the owner. It sure made me not want to have one.
