The price they are asking isn't unreasonable. KBB rates mine as worth about $15,000. Other than the color, it doesn't look to be a bad truck. 120,000ish miles on the clock is a bit high after 8 years but if it was a work truck, 15,000 miles a year isn't too horrible. How does the interior look?

IMO, its a nice looking truck but $13k is a lot.

I would have a mechanic check the truck and find out when the last time these items were replaced. If you dont know, have the dealer pay for it because its at least $3k worth of work to get her ready
  1. Differential fluid flush and change
  2. Antifreeze flush and change
  3. Heater core flush
  4. oil change, air filter, pcv valve
  5. spark plugs
  6. Cam shaft sensor ( this is a big one. Do it if its never been changed and only use Motorcraft)
  7. brakes front and back
  8. Front end check and or replace..see #9 below
  9. Front Sway Bar Links
    Front Lower Ball Joints
    Front Outer Tie Rods
Front Upper Control Arms with Ball Joints
    Steering Rack & Pinion Bellows
    Front Inner Tie Rods
Some may laugh, but when you dont know the history, all fluids changed is the first thing you should do. 2ndly, check out the remaining listed items bc if you have to pay it will be expensive.
Sure you can say you will do it all yourself, but if they pay to fix stuff, all the better.

Good luck

Can you explain to me why this is such a big deal?

I think he's thinking of the cam synchro on the 3.0... otherwise I'm as confused as you are.

So, it does have a mild tap at startup. Was a bit concerning. Going to go look at that 2009 FX4 tomorrow.

Well, they said they'll do 12300... I'm going to sleep on it.

Talk me into/out of this one guys ?
It doesn't have a 2.9 in it, and you're looking at buying it? You sure you haven't lost your marbles?

They make bolt on super charger kits for it...

After he buys it and doesn't put it on.... I was gonna buy it on the cheap.

No need here for a 2.9L super charger.

This tap u speak of, how long did this thing sit since last run? When I got my 2010 it had been in the lot for a few months it did tick for a second or two when I first started it, and only will do it after it’s sat for a couple wks.... I’ve put 68k+ on it since then, no issues whatsoever.... Btw. I too think that price is abit high too..I’d say $11-11.5k tops...

May or may not have a Banshee kit on the shelf. Not saying.

Well.

At 12,200 I can't pull the trigger.

Yeah, it's a nice truck. But for 12,200 I think I can do better.

Going to go look at the fx4 in Erie over the weekend. Made them an conditional offer via email. Let's see how much rust it has...
