I forgot to mention the best part! The steering wheel was in absolutely horrible shape. This is an EB with beige interior, the leather on the steering wheel was cracked and stained badly. Really gross. The horn pad too. I had the boy remove the horn pad to clean it up and noticed some "grain" on the wheel under the edge of the nasty leather. Peeled it, looks like nice vinyl....kept peeling....removed all the leather leaving behind a PERFECT stock vinyl steering wheel. Looks brand new. I didn't know Ford just took the plain Jane steering wheel and wrapped it in leather, and helpfully, didn't even glue the leather down! Once the boy cleaned up the horn pad the entire steering wheel looks like an NOS unit they just pulled iff the shelf. I can stop checking eBay for a replacement now! Again unfortunately I forgot to take pics.

Took a couple pics of my "NOS" steering wheel and some dash repair. I painted the pad last night. Doesn't look too bad. Still have a hairline crack around this big one but it's nowhere near what it was. Will post pics when I get it reinstalled. I ended up using this awesome 2-part epoxy I have lying around from some woodworking projects called Kwik-Poly. Worked great. I think the hairline crack is only there from the previous stuff I tried to use and ended up digging out of the crack and starting over.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Looks great!

Not yet. That'll be a while down the road. Once all the exhaust, interior, steering, tuneup and suspension work is done I'll have to get it inspected, I'm figuring on just dropping it off for the inspection, alignment, tire mounting, and whatever else I feel like at the time. Maybe August if I'm lucky?

Crap I forgot I started this thread! By way of a brief update, after replacing every "normal" wear item (read: all bushings, all brake lines, MC, shocks, sway bar bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc) on the front and back of the truck we're close to getting ready to put it back on the ground. Still need to put the rear drums together (had to order an adapter for the brake lines, the new wheel cyls matched except the new hard lines have 1/4" fittings instead of 3/8"), and install the distributor. We did do plugs, plug wires, belts and thermostat but I want it running before I take more stuff apart and pull the distributor. Got tires mounted yesterday, picking them up after work. Today I'll put the new exhaust on.
