i have an 87 ranger 2.3L with the TK 5 transmission. The mounting bolts on the shifter worked loose and it came out and apart. i have all the pieces but im not sure if the steel ball shown in the pictures is supposed to be down in the end of the cavity like it is or if i jammed it down there while trying to get the reverse lock pin back in?? Any body have one laying around for a reference? any help appreciated very much!

OK, here's my worn out old one.

Managed to get the clip off without anything going POIIIIIING! And there's the ball.

But it don't go back together like that!

SO.... Put the big spring on the shaft and put it in there, it only goes one way, then push it up in, drop the ball in from where the clip goes, drop in the small spring on the ball, then put the o-ring on the opening and get the clip slid back on and Bob's yer uncle! And yes, holding two things to put a third on and not rumple the o-ring requires some holding your mouth just right abilities. Good luck!
