I changed the title, this is a very difficult search!

From what I've seen of ranger frames,it seems to me a newer rivited rear frame, like a 2000 CAN BE welded to an older like my 94 if we establish they are both the same wheelbase can anybody confirm or deny that??

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I would expect the mounting holes for the cab and bed to be different. Better wait for the right frame.

I found a yard that has the rear frame from a long bed 98. Should I continue seeking out the rear frame for a super cab model? what my truck is. 94 super cab short bed.

sorry if this is showing up twice, (I posted this on the old site I think)
Denise:

'97 and older have continuous frames. '98 and new have 2 piece frames. In both cases 2wd is different from 4wd.

You need '93-97 SuperCab frame.

Interesting that nobody has mentioned the wheelbase. In the Gen2, the wheelbase is longer on the supercab (125) than the std cab longbed (113.9). I just looked, rather than guessing, and the 98 wheelbase is 125.9 for the supercab, and 117.6. On the third gen, the wheelbases are 125.2 and 113.9, respectively. That would tell me that I couldn't use a regular cab longbox frame under a supercab, even going across generations.

Don, a newer back frame would be easier to obtain and from the cab back its certainly not complicated what could be wrong with finding a newer back half and welding it to the older 94 front while keeping maintaining the wheelbase?
I'm beginning to wonder if a usable older frame is even out there anymore! unless I make a trip down south where trucks don't rust!

Added photo just to see how the new software works. "Too big"

I rewrote the title of this thread title! hopefully y'all could join in again

I'm taking your advice & looking for the 125 inch wheelbase rear frame. I may have found a newer one I think it can be done, because not a whole lot has changed in rear frames except that they were rivited to the front!

Oh, another question the frame without axle would fit in the bed? Or would I need a trailer or a larger truck to pick it up?

a back half yes, but the spring perches will get hung up on the wheel wells so be prepared to do some lifting.
I put the back half of a 2010 in my capped 2005. regular bed, not step side which is narrower.

From what you are saying, it sounds like you have done is this rather unfortunate project that no one should have to do because of bad steel. Ford used.

Do you think the newer rear frame will fit the older same wheel base? I can't imagine that it wouldn't but I would like to get more confirmation,.

I'm in the process of building a 4x4 frame to put under my 2005 2wd. for me the rust issues are on the 4x4 parts, not my original 2wd frame.

I'll try to get some pics of the rear frame sections.
