The A/C compressor in my wife's '95 Sable puked its guts last week and I just finished replacing it. I did have a shop vacuum the system out before I got started. Now that everything's reconnected, can somebody point me to the right place to learn about adding oil and refrigerant?

This page might be of use to you. The section on "Vacuum and Charge" is pretty generic. You'd need to check the specs for the particular compressor you have to see how much PAG oil to add ('95 is R134a, right?). I'm sure the pros at acsource.net would know.

Thanks. I actually just took it back to the shop that evacuated it the next day for a recharge. Figuring in the credit from what they pulled before, it only cost $35 or so. Went straight from there to a dealership and traded it in on a '00 Lexus ES300. Normally I wouldn't trade in a car (or spend that much money on a newer one) but I'm getting deployed and can't work on her car for the next year (something it had been needing more and more of).
