Odd rough running issue

My 88 2.9 runs rough sometimes. After startup, warm or cold, it will idle fine for about 60-90 seconds, then start to stall. If I start driving, it will run rough for a while before slowly getting better. At 100% throttle it does not run rough.

If I start it up and monitor it when it starts to stall, i blip the throttle to keep it running (every 15 seconds or so). After a couple minutes, it will idle normally and run and drive normally.

I have to repeat this procedure every time the key is shut off, regardless of engine temp/ run time.

I have checked/ replaced the common tuneup items, but I do not suspect any of them due to the odd nature of the situation.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
G

drives a stick shift ranger
Not on a ranger, but some jeeps had bad solder joints in their ecu and when the jeep was cold, it took some things to get it running till it warmed and the heat from the engine warmed up the ecu

Pull the codes on it. Could be a TPS or coolant sensor.
