My parking brake spreader fell out on me and it is gonna take about 4 days to get one. I'm going a trip across Texas (state line to state line) and I am wanting to know if it will affect my regular braking.

I'm not quite sure which part you are talking about. If it's the piece at the bottom with the little star wheel adjuster you DO need that. Can you post a pic?

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
Well that bar also keeps the shoes aligned so I would not recommend driving without it... but I'm sorta a stickler for not leaving parts off of the brakes.

You need it. Why can't you put it back in?

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
You need it. Why can't you put it back in?
Waiting for the dog to poop it out?
Neighbor borrowed it to fix his brakes?
It became part of his son's science fair project?
Wife is using it to keep her toes spread apart until the nail polish dries?

I dunno. Just had a few useless answers to toss out there.

Anyway. As mentioned above, that piece is necessary. It's not just parking brakes. It affects all use of your brakes.
