Hi,
I have had too many problems over the years that end up being PATS.

I recently did a 3.0 swap to an older long block 3.0 and now it won't start probably due to anti theft being engaged.
I want to eliminate or defeat the PATS system. Can it be done and how?

Absolutely. Completely remove the fuel injection system, wiring, and computer and run a carburetor with a push button start. Oh gotta switch to a manual transmission too since the auto is computer controlled. Then you have officially bypassed the PATS system.

Welcome to TRS :)

No way to by pass PATS but you can have it deleted from computer(PCM)

Looks like there are several Speed Shops in Pensacola
They will have or know programmers that can delete PATS test from computer

Not sure what they will charge, you need to ask
This says $80: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PATS-Delete-Tuning-for-96-04-Ford-PCMs-Mail-in-Your-Computer-Fast-Turnaround-/352413169240
No, never used them

In 1999 you will have a TYPE B so a separate PATS module above glove box, it will have a Pink/orange stripe wire that runs to Starter Relay in engine fuse box, you need to Ground that wire so key can start engine, this is part of PATS, other part is in the computer, fuel pump and injectors are disabled by that part

Switching between 3.0 long blocks shouldn't have any impact on PATS. PATS looks at the ignition key, the steering column, and the PCM.

Your no start is related to something else.

What would be the point of a security system that's essy to bypass? Short of having a tow truck, you really can't steal a PATs equipped truck. And thats why it's one of the best systems ever made. The failure rate for them is insanely low, issues only come up when people don't understand the system and try to swap ecu's, guage clusters, or loose their keys.

I dont feel its a nessasary item. If I wanted a security system Id get my own. Having a manual transmission seems to be plenty of a theft deterrent in this day and age. If they want to make it a optional accessory thats fine, but just like seat belt buzzers and “push brake to release from park” crap. just not nessasary.
