I should've hidden it from myself heh. My GF has no say, she didn't make the money that was spent.

You hiding it from your GF or yourself?
Just hiding it from myself.

In all reality though, my build hasn't been too bad. I bought some high dollar part like the Cage arms and the new rear leafs but also saved alot by getting a free D60 in excellent condition. Money wise, I'm probably somewhere in the middle of what everyone has posted here.

well, you brought up an old thread, but since you did, I'll play too.

$800 82 jp waggy d44 and 69 f100 ford 9" 5.13's and spooled front/rear - front with high steer already
$150 misc parts to get axles ready cause they weren't as "complete" as advertised
$50 misc parts - brake lines, etc
$50 misc supplies, weld rod, bolts and hardware, cut-off discs, etc
free metal for leaf mount brackets, spring perches, shock mounts, etc
leaf springs free, shocks "borrowed" from another project, I modded my own drive shafts so free (no they dont vibrate)
total so far $1050
total cost in the whole truck $3000, but i seriously need some new tires so that's going up real soon

Not done collecting parts yet. But I'll break down what I've got in it...

Jeep XJ HP D30, sadly, its a disco axle. Yeah, I know. But it was FREE! AND, includes the full steering setup, trackbar and practically NEW rotors, pads and unit bearings...
2 sets of shafts for spares. Free.
3.73 and up carrier, $40 includes setup kit!
Used 4.10 ring and pinion, $50
6" Skyjacker XJ coils, $60
4" XJ coils (in case the 6" are too tall), FREE, had to help a friend with a FS Jeep motor
Lower front adjustable long arms for a TJ, free
1/4" steel plate scraps for making brackets, Free.
Jeep XJ trans crossmember, Free. I can cut and hack this and the original xmember for my project.
JK front upper control arms, to make adjustable, Free. (Keeping my eye out for some adjustable uppers though to save me some time)
33" BFG Trail TAs, AND a 32" MT for spare, $20. YES, $20. I know they are an older tire, but they have more than enough tread pass safety, no dry rot, and did I mention $20?

So far, I'm in it for $170 total. PLUS, lots of time, and patience. Constantly watching my local forums for cheap and free stuff. I still need some tube and rodends to make the adjustable upper arms for the Y-link radius arms.
I would like to get a solid right side shaft to replace the 2 piece shafts. But I have spares on hand for now. Who knows, I might get them for free too.

I need to finish the link arm mount brackets to bolt to the frame, These brackets also support the trans crossmember. I am looking to get a stock Ranger pitman arm, to use a Ranger tierod end with the Jeep drag link. Havent' decided whether to use the Jeep frame side trackbar mount, or fab something instead. Either way, the trackbar and steering box will be braced to the engine crossmember and opposite frame rail.

My goal has no time frame, I'm in no real hurry. I would like it done before the Zombie Uprising though. And I am hoping to keep the whole build under $500. My friend that was letting me borrow his welder had it stolen. Guess I should pony up and buy my own finally. And I need a slave cylinder too, but thats not part of the SAS, just a repair...

Actually I had a complete XJ for free that gave up the D30 and steering parts for the Ranger, a bunch pf spare parts for my XJ and the back half of the XJ I gave to my buddy for a trailer...
