Hi all,
I have a 1996 2.3 4x4. This truck has 4wheel ABS that has never given me an issue (no ABS light on, all fuses good, can feel ABS work) but recently it has been really easy to lock up the rear drum brakes. It is very erratic and does not take much pedal pressure to cause lockup. The brakes will unlock as soon as I get off the brake pedal, so they aren't sticking, they are just very easy to lock, which has never been the case before. The issue started in November and has become more frequent since then.
Here is what has been done to brakes this summer:
-Replaced ALL hard lines (yes, every single one, even ones between ABS unit and master)
-Replaced two front rubber brake hoses and rear splitter hose
-flushed brake fluid in the whole system several times
-New pads, rotors, calipers and wheel bearings up front
-Turned drums, new shoes, new hardware kits, and new wheel cylinders in rear
The only thing I didn't replace at this point is the master cylinder, should I suspect that it is the cause of the rear wheel lockup? I don't think the brake pedal feels soft or anything like that.
Other potential causes? I know there is no air in the system, I am not losing fluid, and I have re adjusted the drums several time to no avail.
Thanks
