I was just congratulating myself on finishing the auto to Mazda trans switch when I discovered that the "new" slave cylinder I bought is slowly dripping brake fluid.

Do I have to completely pull everything back apart, or can the trans be unbolted and slid back so a new slave can be installed under the truck without pulling of the transfer case and the rest? Any ideas?

i was able to leave the tranny cross member in place and scoot the tranny and t-case back so i could change the clutch and flywheel.you should be able to also.if you take out the tranny mount it will drop enough to give you room.

Thanks for the tip. The slave I bought was supposed to be new, but had sat on the guy's shelf for a couple years. I'm hoping it will seal up since it's not worn out and the seal may just be a little stiff. Usually I'm not that lucky.

I'm never that lucky!

Sorry to hear that, but it's happened to me before as well. I had to pull it all back out and replace the slave with a new one. At least mines a 2wd. Good luck.
