I am going to be replacing the rear shocks on my Ranger, and I ordered Motorcraft shocks from Walmart. Upon arrival, I notice there is already rust on one, possibly both of the shocks (see attached photos). I just want to know if it is completely normal for rust like this on new shocks and if not, if it would be like that after a week or so of use anyway. I don't want the shocks to rust apart prematurely. Let me know if I am just being ocd. Thanks

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Just some surface rust on a spot that got missed. Nothing to worry about. Hit it with some rust to black and some touch up paint. Then mount and send it.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
