Ok, since replacing the springs on my extended cab, thw ride has been a little... Coarse.

Truck handles 'meh'. Moog HD variable rate coils in the front, Husky 1750lb five leaf HD in the back. Overall, it lifted the truck 3" or so, but it feels solid now.

Since then my KYB twin tubes have, well, sucked.

Looking for opinions.

I'm looking for something that holds up and prevents roll on corners, but can deal with typical dirt road potholes.

Monotubes seem like a good choice for better handling on the highway and on dirt roads, but.ill admit, I know almost nothing about shocks.

Shocks aren't gonna fix a stiff ride from heavy springs. Your better option would have been to use air or overload springs if you wanted load capacity without effecting ride quality.

But... Bilstien 4600's are probably the best reasonably priced shocks you can use for regular daily driving and mild offroad use.

While shocks do have an effect on ride quality, I think your springs are more of the problem that the shocks would be. Too bad the design between 1988 and 2011 is different or I would offer an even swap from my 1250s to your 1750s.

As far as roll control, a 2.9 moves fast enough to worry about that???

Need the 1750s for my trailer.

Ha ha... Megasquirted and built 2.9. Truck hustles. It's not my SRT8 or my Red Ram Hemi, but it moves.

One day... maybe not today, maybe not this century... we will make it through an entire thread without insulting a 2.9.

Anyways... Anyone have a lead on Bilstien 4600s for less than 300/set?

As cheap as possible...

They are on sale occasionally on amazon but still never much cheaper than 300.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Any thoughts on Bilstien vs the KYB MonoMax? Are the Bilstien worth the extra $?

Bilstien has a pretty loyal following... and rightfully so... they make a good product. I was KYB dealer for years and had really good luck with their product. The Mono Max was not part of their line up when i was a dealer or I could give you some real life results. I am however a believer... and I have a set of four Mono Max shocks to go on the Ranger in the garage. If life would stop throwing me curve balls... they would be on the truck.

Hm. No chance you want to get rid of them, eh?
