The rest of the door build is pretty straightforward. Cut sheet steel to fit the interior side, weld on, grind weld smooth, body filler on welded seams and door lock hole. Lot of sanding, more filling, and more sanding before painting. They are done right now.

Couple pics from a run we did a few weeks ago:

I still have the flatbed plans, if you want them, just PM me with your email address. It may take me a while to email them to you, I won't forget but it takes me a while to remember! :D

Nothing too crazy going on with the build lately, been focusing on other things.

I did add a rear frame stiffener thing (basically C channel welded across the frame rails.) It has a receiver hitch in the middle of it for recovery purposes since I was twisting the frame every time I used the tow hooks. It got quite a workout last summer, dragging a broken one wheel drive Explorer out of a trail.

I also installed a Lock-rite in the front last week. Haven't tested it yet.

The truck is probably going under the knife again and will be out of commission for a while. I don't regret doing the NP-435 at all, but I wish I would have waited for something different. I scored a free T-19 four speed that is going to be installed soon, simply because of the synchronized first gear.

I will also be replacing the lower intake gaskets at the same time, and probably the water pump, timing cover gasket, and thermostat again to fix some coolant leaks. I hate leaks.

Nice doors! I was thinking of doing the same with my doors down the road (if I can find a decent set of wing window doors).

Little update on the build. I got a small bonus at work so I planned to buy a new set of tires. I want 35x12.50x15 TSL LBs but they are on indefinite backorder. 36" TSL SXs were my second choice but they are just too expensive for my blood at this point and I don't really want any other tires. Anyway, decided to skip them for now and buy a winch...which required a new bumper too. The factory bumper and brush guard were trashed.

I picked up a 10' stick of 6" channel steel. Began by removing the factory bumper and then cut about 2" of frame off. I welded on two pieces of channel to extend the frame out, then another longer piece between the frame rails to set the winch on. Then I began building the bumper...started out as just a straight piece of channel that I bolted on:

After that, I cut the ends off, made a few bends. I also fitted the winch in place and cut a hole for the fairlead.

The rest is pretty self explanatory. Lots of adjustments, added some lights, D rings, license plate mount, etc.

The old bumper also had a set of tractor lights on it. I reused these as rock lights behind the cab of the truck. Should come in handy for night wheeling.

Very nice. Now get out there and make that winch earn its keep! Shouldn't take to long... Since you didn't get the tires...

No kidding, I hate these Mud Terrains. I guess as far as radials go they are OK but the sidewalls are so thin.
