Is it possible to replace the front, driver side spring hanger without taking the bed off or moving the fuel tank??

I know I'm looking for the easy way out, but it's worth shot if it's possible!!

I've done it. Its a pain to get the bolts in behind the frame but it is possible.

Well for me...because its much faster not to do any of that when you have it up on a hoist.

Thanks

I'm working on it solo, so I was hoping not to have to take the others off.

Sasquatch-Ryda,

any advice in getting the bolts behind the frame? I'm assuming you are talking the tight fit between frame and fuel tank??

Thanks again

Have you inspected your other hangers? They might not be that far behind for replacement.

Had the rears replaced last year, had it done at a Spring Shop.

The broken one is the front, driver side. I'm sure the other front is not far behind and figure I might as well do it at the same time.

I just don't want to take the bed or tank off if at all possible and was hoping to do it myself!

When I did mine a couple years ago, I tried very hard to not have to remove the gas tank. But...it didn't work...couldn't get into where I need to get the bolts in place. I wound up supporting the gas tank on a jack, and just moving it out of the way a little bit in order to get at the front drivers side hanger. Good Luck!

Thanks. I've heard you can move the tank enough, so I'm going to give it a shot. I'm sure my 7 and 4 year old will hear some new four-lettered words.

Thanks and we'll seehow it goes!!

Put that 7 year old's skinny little arms to work!!! He/she might be able reach enough in there to put a bolt in place...tell you wife you're bonding by working in the garage :icon_thumby:
