Transfer case swap question

Will a transfer case out of an 89 bronco 2 swap to a 95 ranger? Mine in the Ranger is the electric and I want to swap it to the manual 89 transfer case I have.

I have swapped 84 BII to 86 ranger and it fit. I was worried that the 86 transmission, which had the electric transfer case, would not have the threaded holes for the other transfer case shifter. But after I scraped all the grim off and dug out the holes, they were there, even though it had a electric transfer case on it. It all bolted right up.

I would get a new gasket that goes inbetween the trans and the transfer case. I used just silicone instead, and have had a minor oil leak every since that I need to fix. I think if I would have waited for the silicone to setup a little bit first, I would not have had the problem. Or just used a gasket.

Take a look at the front output of the transfer case. If they are the same style it should work fine.

I'd suspect the 89 is a 1350 with slip yoke front output while the 95 should have a flat flanged 1354.

There are 2 transfer cases, with 3 front outputs: 1350 with slip yoke front, 1350 or 1354 with u-joint front yoke and 1354 with CV joint front yoke.

If both transfer cases are same front output, you are in business. If you have 1354, you can pull case apart and put the desired front output/yoke in.

Rear output can always be swapped to match. (Although you might need to eat your wheaties - nut can be on very tight)

At some point in Ford stopped casting the lugs onto the transmission tailshaft (and they stopped tapping before that). Again a picture of your transmission tailshaft - driver's side will give us ability to answer your questions.
